Worthy Plants
Welcome to the website of Worthy Plants. The garden centre is at Headbourne Worthy, on the north side of Winchester, with the villages of Kingsworthy, Abbots Worthy, and Martyr Worthy nearby. The garden centre aims to provide an unrivalled experience of trees, plants and flowers, with advice to match, and of course, the chance to purchase from the wide and varied range.
Philip Jeffs, the business owner, is usually on hand to help with the correct choice of plants, and as a horticultural consultant with over 40 years’ experience in all things garden related, he is well qualified to do just that. He is intensely passionate about plants and trees, and the countryside, and the garden centre reflects that passion.
To that end, he has developed a garden centre where people can see plants being used in imaginative combinations, be it on display or in small showpiece sets. As a consequence there are sections put over to a small woodland grouping, a vegetable garden, a wildflower meadow, and a ‘weedy’ patch for wildlife, complete with pond. Displays of rare or unusual plants and bonsai (some for sale) add to the mix.
Philip says, ‘At Worthy Plants I want to push the boundaries a little, by having some more unusual plants which, although eminently garden worthy, are not commonly available. I genuinely hope to widen people’s knowledge of plants, and instil in them the same level of excitement that I first felt some 40 years ago, so that their enjoyment of the garden is enhanced.’
So, please take your time to browse through the site, to look at the broad range of trees, shrubs, and perennials stocked, along with the blog which will feature some informative articles and the latest news and offers from the garden centre.
